On Saturday, 7 February 2026, Noko Maimela Incorporated attended a community meeting at the invitation of the Mambayi Land Claimants. The gathering focused on one clear and important issue: the way forward regarding the proceeds of the community’s farm situated within the Thaba Chweu Local Municipality.
The atmosphere was purposeful and respectful. The meeting opened with an opportunity for community members to greet and engage. More than 200 people were in attendance, the majority being adult members of the community, including elders whose lived memories form part of the very history behind the claim. Representatives from the Land Rights Commission – Mpumalanga were present, alongside representatives from Noko Maimela Inc.
Clarity was the central theme of the day.
Community members sought to fully understand the role Noko Maimela Inc would play in finalising the land claim process. Questions were raised openly and addressed comprehensively. The discussion focused on process, accountability, legal steps, and coordination with the Land Rights Commission. Following engagement and deliberation, the community formally resolved to appoint Noko Maimela Incorporated to finalise the land claim process and to liaise directly with the Land Rights Commission – Mpumalanga on their behalf.
